Morocco’s Princess Lalla Meryem and France’s First Lady Brigitte Macron have launched a major campaign to combat school bullying and cyberbullying, according to the North Africa Post.

Organized by the National Observatory for Children’s Rights (ONDE) under the banner “Let’s Act Together,” the initiative underscores Morocco’s commitment to addressing bullying in schools.

Like in many places in the world, bullying remains commonplace in many Moroccan schools.

Morocco World News cites a report by NGO “Sourire de Reda” that finds 51.9% of students surveyed experienced physical or verbal harassment in high school. More than 62% said they had been victims of humiliation and bullying.

The campaign includes multiple measures to raise awareness, including a video distributed to over 3,700 secondary and high schools. Additionally, a new application called “iTyhad,” developed by students, aims to help combat and prevent bullying. A three-year training program, in partnership with Morocco’s Ministry of Education, is also underway to equip educators and specialists with the skills needed to tackle bullying and cyberbullying.
