The World Bank approved a $250 million program to enhance Morocco’s municipal waste management, aiming to boost environmental sustainability and financial viability. The initiative builds on Morocco's progress under the National Program for Household Waste Management (PNDM), which raised urban waste collection from 40% in 2008 to 96% in 2022. Addressing funding gaps and environmental issues, the government launched the 2023 National Program for Waste Recovery, promoting circular economy practices and reducing landfill dependence.
