Morocco will vote on abolishing the death penalty, marking a human rights milestone. Justice Minister Abdellatif Ouahbi confirmed support for a UN moratorium resolution at the General Assembly on Dec. 15. Citing Article 20 of the Constitution, Ouahbi called it a commitment to the right to life. The vote includes a two-year execution moratorium, with plans for permanent abolition. The PJD reaffirmed support for the penalty in extreme cases, citing alignment with Islamic law and constitutional principles.
