Tunisians protested on Tuesday in the capital on the 14th anniversary of the uprising that sparked the Arab Spring revolts
U.S. Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken spoke in a phone meeting with Moroccan Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita about the proposal on the table to achieve an enduring ceasefire in Gaza and secure the release of all hostages.
In a statement from U.S. State Dept spokesperson Matthew Miller, “the Secretary underscored that the proposal would greatly benefit both Palestinians and Israelis, allow a surge in humanitarian assistance into Gaza, enable the return of displaced persons to areas throughout Gaza, and permit international reconstruction efforts to begin. He reiterated that Hamas should accept the proposal without further delay.” The Secretary conveyed his gratitude to King Mohammed VI for Morocco’s humanitarian contributions to Gaza and underscored the importance of supporting this proposal as a means of building a more integrated, peaceful, and stable Middle East region. Secretary Blinken and Foreign Minister Bourita agreed on the importance of continuing to coordinate closely to advance peace and security in the region.
