Morocco’s FM Nasser Bourita wrapped up a two-day visit to Washington DC after discussions with several chairs of key congressional committees, including Senator Lindsey Graham, Representatives Brian Mast, Joe Wilson, and Mario Diaz-Balart, plus members of the Abraham Accords Caucus from both houses. This followed his meetings with NSA chief Michael Waltz as well as Secretary of State Marco Rubio, after which Rubio posted on X “Met with Moroccan Foreign Minister Bourita to re-affirm the strong U.S.-Morocco partnership. I reiterated that the U.S. recognizes Moroccan sovereignty over Western Sahara and supports Morocco’s Autonomy Proposal as the only basis for a just and lasting solution to the dispute.
