In 2021, Morocco adopted Law 13-21 on the legal use of cannabis, approving the use of cannabis for therapeutic and medicinal purposes. As of April 2024, Morocco’s agency for regulating legal cannabis activities had issued 2,905 authorizations for legal cannabis production. Different reports have suggested that Morocco is hoping to grow its legalized cannabis industry, targeting European markets. In July, French outlet Le Monde suggested that Morocco’s potential to attract a European market share of 10% to 15%.
