Egypt hopes for recovery of Suez Canal revenue amid ceasefire in Gaza
Egypt’s Minister for Foreign Trade and Investment, Hassan El Khatib, expressed cautious optimism regarding the recovery of Suez Canal
The design team behind the Grand Stade Hassan II has unveiled new renderings of what is anticipated to become the world's largest football stadium, according to various architectural sources.
A key feature of the stadium is a massive rooftop that mimics the look of a traditional tent, offering shelter to a crowd of 115,000 spectators.
This design element draws inspiration from Morocco's cultural heritage, particularly the traditional social gatherings known as "moussem."
"The design is deeply rooted in ancient symbols: the Moussem, the tent, and the garden, along with the diverse topography and landscapes of Morocco. It's a generous space, open to the world, and mindful of the natural environment it safeguards," said Tarik Oualalou, founder of Oualalou + Choi and lead architect of the project, in a press release.
Another prominent feature of the stadium is its integration of green spaces, with surrounding botanical gardens providing a natural retreat from the bustling urban landscape.
Designed by the architecture firm Oualalou + Choi in partnership with global sports design specialists Populous, the stadium is currently under construction in Casablanca.
Once completed, it is expected to serve as the home ground for two local football teams and to host the finals of the FIFA 2030 World Cup in Morocco.
