Morocco has long been a key source of intelligence for Western nations in tackling extremism and terrorism; now according to recent annual report by the NATO Secretary General, Jens Stoltenberg cites Morocco’s success in combating illegal immigration and transnational organized crime. It is also the area of maritime security that NATO highlighted, especially the recent participation in the NATO-led Operation Sea Guardian that brought together Spain, Britain and Portugal alongside Morocco patrolling the Mediterranean.
