Egypt and Jordan reaffirm rejection of Trump proposal to take in displaced Palestinians
Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi and Jordan’s King Abdullah have firmly rejected recent proposals from U.S. President Donald
The U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has identified 495 Moroccan nationals in its “non-detained docket” (NDD) who are slated for deportation, according to a report from Hespress.
Individuals listed in the NDD are non-U.S. citizens believed to be residing in the country but are not currently in ICE custody. Some may be fugitives, while others may be detained by different law enforcement agencies. In addition to the Moroccan nationals, 360 Algerians and 160 Tunisians are also reportedly on the list for removal.
Deportations from the U.S. are expected to increase significantly as President Trump has made immigration enforcement a key priority of his administration. Since taking office less than two weeks ago, thousands of undocumented migrants have been detained in major cities, including New York and Chicago. ICE officials have been instructed to arrest at least 1,200 individuals per day, The Washington Post reports.
While the administration claims that deportation efforts will focus on individuals with criminal records, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt stated on Tuesday that no one in the country illegally is “off the table,” according to the BBC.
Countries that refuse to cooperate with deportation efforts are labeled “recalcitrant nations,” a designation that currently includes China, India, and Cuba. The consequences for noncompliance can be severe. For instance, Trump previously threatened to impose steep tariffs on Colombian imports after the country initially refused to accept deported nationals. Colombia ultimately complied with the administration’s demands.
