According to officials, quoted by Reuters, a commission in Niger has said it will take a minimum of five-years to transition back to democratic rule, following consultations that involved more than 700 delegates including lawyers, architects and teachers. Abdoulaye Seydou, one of the commission's vice presidents, speaking on state TV, said the “duration of the transition is set at 60 months, which may change depending on the security situation" plus other factors.
