Israeli authorities have barred Palestinian journalist Shatha Hammad from traveling to Tripoli, Libya, where she was set to receive the prestigious "Red Castle Award for Peace Journalism." The award was conferred during celebrations marking Libya's 73rd Independence Day. In a video message, Hammad expressed her disappointment, dedicating the award to Palestinian prisoners and journalists killed while reporting under Israeli occupation, including Al Jazeera correspondent Shireen Abu Akleh.
