Water rushing between the sand dunes of southern Morocco left by the heavy rains that fell in August and September have given a different face to the Moroccan Sahara, better known for its frequent droughts. On average, the Sahara receives between zero and 3 inches of rain per year however, some parts of the desert in northern Africa have seen as much as 600 percent of the average precipitation over the past 50 days.
