Report: Number of migrants leaving from Libya to Europe is down 25%

According to recent data from the Mixed Migration Center the number of migrants departing from Libya to Europe has decreased by 25% during the first quarter of 2025. Just over 9,000 migrants have arrived in Italy in the first three months of this year, with 93% of them departing from Libyan shores. At the same time the report highlighted a significant rise in the number of illegal migrants and refugees residing inside Libya. The report also noted that Libya remains a major hub for migrants heading toward Europe.
