Royal Air Maroc (RAM) has officially signed an agreement to become the exclusive airline partner for the 2025 African Football Confederation (CAF) tournaments.
As part of the deal, RAM will be responsible for transporting teams, delegations, and fans throughout the tournament period. This includes the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), which Morocco will host for the first time since 1988. The tournament kicks off on December 21, 2025, and concludes on January 18, 2026. Additionally, RAM will serve the CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, scheduled to take place in Morocco from July 5 to 26 along with several other tournaments.
“We are excited about the partnership between CAF and Royal Air Maroc, a world-class airline that will provide comfort and fly National Teams participating in the CAF competitions,” said CAF President Patrice Motsepe.
This partnership expands RAM’s presence across the continent and globally, reinforcing its role as a key link between Africa and the world. The move is also part of Morocco’s broader strategy to position itself as a global sports destination, with the nation set to host AFCON 2025 and co-host the 2030 FIFA World Cup.
“This historic partnership with CAF aligns fully with our strategic vision as an airline deeply rooted in Africa and committed to its development,” stated RAM Chairman and CEO Hamid Addou.
Addou anticipates the airline will handle around 500,000 passengers during the CAF tournaments. To accommodate the increased demand, RAM is scaling up its operations, including doubling seat capacity from cities it already serves—such as Dakar, Abidjan, Cairo, Tunis, Bamako, Lagos, and Douala, Morocco World News reports.
The airline also plans to expand flight frequencies from major European cities with significant African diaspora communities, including Paris, Brussels, Milan, London, Marseille, Lyon, Madrid, and Barcelona.
