Rwanda and Morocco deepen bilateral relations as President Kagame meets FM Bourita

Rwandan President Paul Kagame hosted Morocco's Foreign Minister Nasser Bourrita on Thursday, who delivered a message from King Mohammed VI on the eve of a high-stakes summit in Tanzania.

The meeting underscored the strengthening of Rwanda-Morocco ties, with 36 bilateral agreements since 2016 enhancing cooperation in trade and environmental sectors.

The summit between the East African Community and the Southern African Development Community scheduled for Saturday in Dar es Salaam could bring together Democratic Republic of Congo's President Felix Tshisekedi and President Paul Kagame of Rwanda, who is accused by Congo, the United Nations and other Western partners of arming and supporting the rebels. Rwanda has consistently denied these allegations.

United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres emphasized that the situation has reached a "pivotal moment," warning that the conflict could potentially spread throughout the entire region. He urged all parties involved to collaborate towards achieving peace.
