Algerian Lieutenant General Said Chengriha made a landmark visit to Mauritania this week, meeting with Lieutenant General Mokhtar Bellah Chaabane, Chief of the General Staff. The visit, the first by an Algerian military official of this rank to Nouakchott, aimed to strengthen bilateral cooperation amid recent diplomatic tensions. Algeria’s defense ministry stated the visit, initiated at Chaabane's invitation, provided an opportunity for discussions on mutual interests and regional influence expansion.
