Sahel states to launch ‘indigenous web television channel’ after closure of French news outlets

The breakaway block of West African nations is set to launch a web television service to fight what it calls an “information war” after several French media outlets were closed in the region.

The Alliance of Sahel States (AES) has said it is faced with “disinformation campaigns” and Burkina Faso, Mali, and Niger have therefore announced the creation of a new communication platform, that’s according to an official of Mali's Department of Communication who was speaking to the Turkish news agency Anadolu Ajansı.
