Ethiopia and Somalia attempted to salvage their fragile detente following a deadly clash along their border in Jubaland on Monday. Somali State Minister for Foreign Affairs, Ali Mohamed Omar, met with Ethiopian counterpart Mesganu Arega on Tuesday. The confrontation involved Ethiopian troops allegedly defending local politicians against Somali forces in Doolow. Somalia condemned the actions of Ethiopian forces, while Ethiopia denied wrongdoing, citing unnamed third parties aiming to destabilize the Horn of Africa.
