Somalia announced Egypt’s offer to deploy peacekeeping troops as part of a security partnership. This comes as the African Union peacekeeping mandate in Somalia nears its end. Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi joined a summit in Asmara, Eritrea, on Thursday, where he, along with the leaders of Somalia and Eritrea, committed to strengthening regional security cooperation. The development signals closer ties between the Horn of Africa nations and Egypt in addressing regional stability.
