Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez announced a three-year strategic plan Thursday to strengthen economic and diplomatic ties with Africa and establish "legal channels" for migration. The initiative follows a surge in irregular migrant arrivals to Spain's Canary Islands. "Our country seeks a new era of equal partnership with Africa," Sanchez said after meeting Mauritania's President Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani. Sanchez highlighted Africa's growing significance, noting trade surpasses Spain's with Latin America.
