Apollo, a stray dog at Egypt's Giza Pyramids, has captured global attention after being filmed scaling the Great Pyramid of Khafre, AFP reports. The viral footage, shot by American paraglider Alex Lang, shows Apollo confidently climbing the 136-meter monument and barking at birds from the summit. Dubbed the "pyramid puppy," Apollo is now a favorite among tourists, with guides incorporating his story into their tours.

The three-year-old Baladi dog is the leader of a pack living around the ancient site. Baladis are a local breed known for their resilience and ability to survive in Egypt’s harsh climate. Apollo’s fame has boosted local businesses, with vendors reporting increased sales and tourists eager to meet the dogs. Animal care initiatives, including food stations and a planned veterinary center, are now in motion.

Apollo’s story has also inspired international adoptions. Animal advocates hope Apollo's tale will improve life for Egypt's stray animals.
