Sudan's army chief, Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, rejected "any foreign interference" in the country's conflict on Tuesday, a day after Russia vetoed a UN Security Council resolution for a ceasefire.

Speaking at an economic conference in Port Sudan, Burhan criticized "dictates aimed at imposing solutions we do not accept" and commended Russia's "supportive stance."

He stated his government "never agreed" to the draft resolution, which sought to end the war with the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces led by Mohamed Hamdan Daglo.
