Sudan's foreign ministry has condemned new US sanctions against army chief Abdel Fattah al-Burhan as "immoral" and lacking in justice. The ministry criticized the sanctions, announced by the US Treasury Department on Thursday, as baseless and indicative of a flawed judicial perspective. These sanctions are part of the US's broader actions against Sudanese military leaders amidst a 21-month conflict with the Rapid Support Forces, which the ministry asserts Burhan is countering to protect Sudanese citizens from alleged genocide.
