Sudan's ongoing conflict between the military and rival paramilitary forces has plunged the Zamzam camp near Darfur's embattled city of El-Fasher into famine, according to a UN-supported assessment released on Thursday.
The Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC) review, a tool utilized by UN agencies, revealed that "famine is ongoing in July 2024 in Zamzam camp." The report said El-Fasher airport was inaccessible for humanitarian aid due to security concerns.
