Sudan military pledges to continue offensive amid peace talks

A senior Sudanese military official has vowed the army will continue its offensive despite international ceasefire efforts in the 17-month civil war. "Peace talks can proceed, but the army will not halt its operations," said Assistant Commander-in-Chief Lt Gen Ibrahim Gabir in an interview with the BBC. His comments follow the army's recent campaign to retake control of Khartoum from the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF), which currently holds key parts of the capital.
