Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo, also known as Hemedti, commander of Sudan's Rapid Support Forces (RSF), has accused Egypt of launching airstrikes against his troops in Khartoum and Sennar during Sudan's ongoing civil war, ABC News reports.

“Egypt is fighting us,” Dagalo claimed in a video posted to his official X account.

In the 39-minute video, he further alleged that Egypt provided training and drones to the Sudanese Army (SAF), his military rival, with the weapons purportedly supplied by the United States.

"If the Americans were not in agreement these bombs would not reach Sudan," he said.

Egypt’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs quickly dismissed the allegations in a statement, emphasizing Egypt’s commitment to peace efforts in Sudan.

“These claims arise while Egypt is focused on halting the war, protecting civilians, and coordinating international humanitarian aid for those affected by the conflict,” the statement read.

Dagalo also accused Iran of supporting the Sudanese army in the war and mentioned the involvement of mercenaries from Ukraine, Tigray, Eritrea, and Azerbaijan.

The U.S. imposed new sanctions earlier this week on a senior RSF official for attempting to procure weapons.

Since the conflict erupted in April 2023, tens of thousands of people have been killed, and at least 10 million have been displaced, Bloomberg reports.
