Maha Ayoub, Sudan's ambassador to Spain, has urged the international community to condemn Sudan’s Rapid Support Forces (RSF) as a terrorist organization due to its devastating impact on Sudan and the broader Sahel, according to report in the Spanish news platform, Atalayar. Speaking in Madrid, Ayoub emphasized the growing humanitarian crisis, noting that over 12 million Sudanese have been displaced since the RSF's rise—a militia originally created under Omar al-Bashir's regime.

Ayoub described numerous atrocities, including systematic rapes, murders, and destruction of infrastructure, which have forced civilians to abandon their homes. She warned that the RSF's spread across the Sahel could amplify organized crime and human trafficking. Video evidence of these abuses was shown to underscore the group’s brutality.

The ambassador also criticized support for the RSF from regional players like the UAE and Chad and suggested Sudan seeks greater Western engagement in countering this threat. "Sudan wishes to reclaim its stability and cultural heritage," Ayoub concluded.
