Sudan's former President Omar al-Bashir, ousted in a popular uprising after 30 years in power and later imprisoned by military rulers, has been moved to a medical facility in northern Sudan, his lawyer confirmed Wednesday. Mohamed al-Hassan al-Amin told The Associated Press that al-Bashir was transferred on Tuesday to receive treatment at a better-equipped hospital in Merowe, around 330 kilometers (205 miles) north of Khartoum. Al-Bashir's health condition necessitated the transfer, according to his lawyer.
