Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, during a visit to Tripoli, announced plans for a tripartite Maghreb meeting that will exclude Morocco, Algeria's regional rival. According to reports in Libyan media, Tebboune asserted that a solution to Libya's political crisis “will only be through elections” and reaffirmed Algeria’s support for its eastern neighbor.

In a joint press conference with Libyan Presidential Council Head Mohammed Menfi, Tebboune expressed optimism about Libya’s stability and stressed that the Libyan people’s decisions must be respected. He confirmed Algeria's commitment to supporting Libya’s path to a political resolution and national reconciliation.

The upcoming tripartite meeting, involving Algeria, Tunisia, and Libya, reportedly aims to strengthen regional cooperation and address common challenges. The Tripoli talks also focused on enhancing bilateral ties and coordinating responses to regional threats. Both leaders underscored the importance of continued collaboration, especially regarding the Palestinian issue, as they navigate a critical period for the region.
