Travel influencers are increasingly turning their attention to Algeria, a country that has remained relatively unexplored by tourists until now.
Laura Ioana Isac, a 33-year-old world traveler from Romania, is among those who have recently visited the country, sharing her experiences on social media with her 30,000 Instagram followers. Her trip, which lasted 18 days, covered eight cities and included a venture into the desert.
“It has everything: turquoise seas with beautiful beaches, cities with stunning architecture and history, vast deserts and mountains. The people are kind and it’s very affordable," she told Middle East Eye.
Isac's fascination with Algeria was sparked by its status as Africa's largest country and its relative obscurity as a tourist destination, largely due to its stringent visa process. But with the government aiming to welcome 12 million foreign visitors by 2030, Algeria’s policy towards visitors is changing. Some travelers are now eligible for visas on arrival and there are more direct flight options available.
As influencers like Isac continue to share their positive experiences, Algeria's reputation as a hidden gem in North Africa is steadily rising.
