A Tunisian military helicopter crashed Friday during exercises in Gafsa in central Tunisia, killing one of the crew and injuring another, AFP reports citing a military spokesman.
Mohammed Zekri told AFP: "The accident occurred during a normal maneuver and the aircraft's descent." The two crew members were taken to the military hospital in the city of Gafsa where one of them died and the other is in stable condition, he added.
The ministry did not specify the type of helicopter involved. In the last several years the Tunisian military has lost several aircraft during training or reconnaissance missions.
In June last year, four personnel died in helicopter crash off the country's northwest coast. In October 2021, three people lost their lives in another accident during a night exercise in the southern province of Gabes.
