Tunisia repays $5.71 billion in international bonds, says former monetary chief

Tunisia has successfully repaid TND 18.1 billion of its international debts from 2019 to now, according to Mohamed Salah Souilem, former monetary policy chief at Tunisia's Central Bank. The debts, in US dollars, euros, and Japanese yen, totaled around TND 18.1 billion. Souilem noted that Tunisia honored these significant debts quickly, within the years 2019-2025. Additionally, he mentioned that by January 2025, Tunisia had already repaid a fifth of its public debt for the year, amounting to TND 5 billion of the TND 25 billion due.
