Tunisian Authorities Use Arbitrary Detention to Silence Critics, HRW Says
Tunisian authorities have jailed dozens of critics on politically motivated charges in a widening crackdown, Human Rights Watch (HRW) said
Speaking on State TV, Tunisia's National Guard says there have not been any irregular entrances into Tunisia in the first three weeks of 2025, this according to NGO InfoMigrants. During the equivalent three weeks of 2024 there were over 3,000 entries recorded, according to the authorities. In addition, Tunisia's National Guard spokesman Houssemeddine Jebabli, said that efforts undertaken by the Tunisian authorities has led to the prevention of migrants trying to depart Tunisia towards Europe in the same period. In 2024, the authorities say they repatriated over 7,500 migrants.
