Tunisian President calls for boosted efforts in migrant repatriation

Tunisian President Kais Saied has urged the International Organization for Migration to accelerate efforts to facilitate voluntary returns for irregular migrants, the presidency announced on Facebook on Tuesday. Despite being a major transit point for migrants attempting to cross the Mediterranean, Tunisia has seen only 1,544 repatriations this year. The presidency emphasized that more effective measures could significantly increase this number and help curb the migration phenomenon affecting thousands from sub-Saharan Africa annually.
