U.S. imposes sanctions on Sudan weapons procurement director Mirghani Idris Suleiman

According to Treasury Department officials the U.S. has imposed sanctions against Mirghani Idris Suleiman, a leading figure in the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) efforts to acquire weapons for the war against the Rapid Support Forces (RSF).  Bradley Smith, acting under secretary for terrorism and financial intelligence, went on to say that these actions underscore “the essential role that key individuals like Mirghani Idris Suleiman have played in procuring weapons, perpetuating violence, and prolonging the fighting in Sudan."
