U.S. Institute of Peace says Western Sahara’s conflict is over; negotiating the terms comes next

According to a report released by the U.S. Institute of Peace, all indications are that  one of Africa’s longest conflicts has shifted toward a conclusion in July when France recognized Morocco’s claim of sovereignty over the Western Sahara. The report also highlights that international acceptance is growing for Morocco’s autonomy plan. It recommends that the Sahrawi people and Algeria should negotiate terms of peace before the status quo becomes permanent.
