U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio met with Moroccan Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita Tuesday in Washington D.C. in the first face to face meeting since their initial phone call earlier this year. They discussed the strong U.S.-Morocco partnership in advancing peace and security, under both President Trump’s and King Mohamed VI’s leadership. Agenda items included  "building on the Abraham Accords" as well as the United States recognizing Moroccan sovereignty over Western Sahara and "supporting Morocco’s serious, credible, and realistic Autonomy Proposal as the only basis for a just and lasting solution to the dispute. The United States continues to believe that genuine autonomy under Moroccan sovereignty is the only feasible solution."
