The UK’s Foreign Office has warned travelers to exercise caution when traveling to a list of countries including Morocco, Egypt and the United Arab Emirates.
The warning came after an Iranian drone and missile attack on Israel this weekend that was largely thwarted by Israel’s defense system. The attack was in response to the Israeli bombing of an Iranian consulate in Syria that killed several high-ranking Iranian officials on April 1st.
“There is rising tension between Iran and Israel. Any military action could escalate quickly and could pose risks for the wider region,” the travel warning states.
Many of the countries listed, like Morocco and Tunisia, are holiday hotpots for UK travelers but UK officials warn that a terrorist attack targeting UK citizens is a global risk at the moment. It advises UK travelers to monitor news sites regularly as the situation is “changing fast”.
