Famine has taken hold in five additional areas of war-torn Sudan, the UN-backed Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC) review said on Tuesday, predicting further spread in the Darfur region by May. A total of 638,000 people are now facing famine in three North Darfur refugee camps and in the Nuba Mountains in Sudan's south, the report said. In August the IPC had declared famine in the Zamzam displacement camp in North Darfur.
