UN official: Allies arming Sudan’s warring factions are ‘enabling slaughter’

UN political chief Rosemary DiCarlo accused allies of Sudan’s military and paramilitary forces on Tuesday of “enabling the slaughter” that has killed over 24,000 people and fueled the world’s largest displacement crisis. Speaking to the UN Security Council, DiCarlo called the actions “unconscionable” and “illegal.” While unnamed, countries funding Sudan’s warring factions have a duty to push for a negotiated end to the conflict, she urged.
