Mauritania ex-president in court for graft charges appeal
Mauritania's former president Mohamed Ould Abdel Aziz appeared in court on Wednesday at the opening of his appeal
UN political chief Rosemary DiCarlo accused allies of Sudan’s military and paramilitary forces on Tuesday of “enabling the slaughter” that has killed over 24,000 people and fueled the world’s largest displacement crisis. Speaking to the UN Security Council, DiCarlo called the actions “unconscionable” and “illegal.” While unnamed, countries funding Sudan’s warring factions have a duty to push for a negotiated end to the conflict, she urged.
