According to a recent UNICEF report, 80% of children in Morocco now have access to healthcare, as reported by Hespress.

A health initiative launched in 2023 called the Direct Social Support program was cited as one of the main reasons for the improvement in access to care. This initiative provides monthly financial aid to low-income and struggling families, enabling them to afford healthcare services.

Currently, 4.8 million children, representing 44% of all Moroccan children under 18, reportedly benefit from direct financial support.

This initiative aligns with Morocco’s broader objective of achieving universal healthcare coverage, as outlined in Framework Law 09.21, which was approved in 2021.

To streamline aid distribution, Morocco has adopted digital registration systems, ensuring that assistance reaches the families who need it most.

In addition, UNICEF is working closely with the Moroccan government to develop a comprehensive child protection policy for 2020-2030, aimed at strengthening long-term support for children nationwide.
