New images from NASA's Terra satellite have highlighted the extent of the drought in Morocco. The satellite captured an image showing the brown, parched landscape around the country’s largest city Casablanca. This shows the deteriorating conditions compared to a picture from the Aqua satellite taken a year earlier, where more green is visible.
Moroccan officials have called the situation “disastrous” explaining that 70 percent less rain has fallen in the last few months compared to an average year, according to a report in Reuters.
