Greek authorities reported Friday that 75 migrants were rescued from a disabled boat south of Crete while attempting to cross to Europe from North Africa. The migrants, believed to have departed from eastern Libya, were rescued in the Mediterranean Sea by a merchant ship after sending a distress signal. Their nationalities remain unknown. The vessel, escorted by a coast guard patrol boat, is en route to a port in southern Crete for further assistance.
