Mohammed Dkhissi, Morocco’s Director of Judicial Police, has been elected as Interpol’s Executive Committee Vice President for Africa for a three-year term. The announcement was made through an official Interpol post on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Dkhissi reportedly secured overwhelming support from the majority of Interpol's 196-member countries during the voting process, held at the recently concluded General Assembly in Glasgow, Scotland.

In a statement, Morocco’s General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) highlighted the significance of the election.

“This election attests to Morocco’s efforts to maintain security and stability at regional and international levels and its pioneering role in promoting South-South security cooperation,” the statement said, as reported by the North Africa Post.

The General Assembly this year focused on key priorities in international policing, including advancements in biometrics, the role of artificial intelligence in the future of law enforcement, sustaining multilateralism, and shaping the next generation of law enforcement leadership, according to Interpol’s website.

Founded in 1923 in Vienna, Austria, Interpol is the world’s largest police organization, now headquartered in Lyon, France. It offers training, investigative support, and expertise to law enforcement agencies worldwide, with a focus on combating terrorism, cybercrime, and organized crime.
