Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune announced a revamped cabinet Monday, three months after his re-election for a second term, according to a report in The National. Prime Minister Nadir Larbaoui, 75, retained his position and was tasked with forming the new government, now expanded to 38 members.
Key ministers, including Foreign Minister Ahmed Attaf, Interior Minister Brahim Merad, and Energy Minister Mohamed Arkab, remain in their roles. Said Chengriha, the acting army Chief of Staff, continues as delegate minister for defense, a portfolio overseen by Tebboune.
The reshuffle introduced new appointments, including LotfiBoudjemaa as Justice Minister and Mohamed Saadaoui as National Education Minister, signaling a shift toward from a francophone to an anglophone curriculum. The Trade Ministry was split into separate entities for domestic and foreign trade.
Two new foreign ministry roles were added, with Sofiane Chaiband Selma Mansouri appointed to oversee diaspora and African affairs. The changes reportedly reflect Tebboune’s intention to focus on structural modernization and international engagement.
