The U.S. special envoy for Sudan has expressed concern over a lack of "political appetite" among warring factions to resolve the country’s ongoing conflict. Speaking Thursday, days after his first visit to Sudan, Envoy Perriello emphasized the need for a resolution centered on returning power to the people.

“We do not yet see enough political appetite from the parties to find a real resolution to this conflict,” Perriello told the Associated Press in an interview.
