The US has greenlit arms sales exceeding $5.5 billion to Egypt and Morocco to enhance their defense capabilities and fortify strategic partnerships. Egypt's $630 million deal includes 2,183 Lockheed Martin AGM-114R Hellfire missiles, 543 Advanced Precision Kill Weapons Systems (APKWS), and related training and logistics. The US State Department also approved a $4.69 billion sale for upgrades to Egypt's 555 M1A1 Abrams tanks. According to the Defence Security Cooperation Agency, these deals support US foreign policy by strengthening a key partner in the Middle East and enhancing interoperability with U.S. and regional forces.
