US lawmakers seek to suspend arms sales to UAE over Sudan conflict

U.S. Senator Chris Van Hollen has introduced legislation to suspend American arms sales to the United Arab Emirates unless the UAE is certified not to be arming Sudan’s paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF), according to a draft announcement.

Van Hollen filed a joint Senate resolution, with Representative Sara Jacobs submitting a counterpart in the House. While unlikely to gain broad congressional backing, the measure highlights Sudan’s worsening humanitarian crisis.
