Italy allocates €20 million to repatriate migrants from North Africa
Italy will invest €20 million ($22 million) to support Algeria, Libya, and Tunisia in voluntary repatriation programs for irregular migrants,
A bipartisan group of U.S. senators, led by Chris Coons, a Democrat, and James Risch, the top Republican on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, introduced legislation to extend the African Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA) for another 16 years.
The move comes as the current trade agreement with sub-Saharan Africa approaches its expiration next year. The bill aims to extend AGOA through 2041, facilitating long-term economic strategies in the region.
Co-sponsors of the bill include Senators Dick Durbin, Michael Bennet, Chris van Hollen, Todd Young, and Mike Rounds.
