This policy explains how Maghreb Insider currently uses artificial-intelligence tools in its publishing workflow.
The policy is intentionally limited to uses that have been identified for the publication and does not treat possible future AI functions as current practice.
Current Use
Maghreb Insider may use AI-generated or AI-assisted images for editorial illustration.
AI is not currently used as the primary system for:
- Article drafting;
- Translation;
- Article summarization;
- Source monitoring.
AI Is Not a Source
AI output is not treated as authoritative factual evidence.
AI tools must not be used to fabricate:
- Sources;
- Quotations;
- Names or people;
- Events;
- Documents;
- Statistics;
- Credentials;
- Evidence.
Editorial claims should therefore remain grounded in sources and evidence appropriate to the subject rather than in the apparent confidence of an AI-generated output.
AI-Generated Images
AI-generated imagery may be used as illustration but must not be presented misleadingly as documentary evidence of a real event.
Where documentary accuracy is important, real or source-based imagery should be preferred where reasonably available and appropriate.
Human Editorial Responsibility
Human editors remain responsible for editorial judgment, sourcing, verification, corrections and publication decisions.
AI tools are not authors, editors or independent sources.
Future Changes
If Maghreb Insider materially expands or changes its use of AI tools, this policy should be updated to reflect actual practice rather than describing hypothetical capabilities as current use.
